LAD/Blog #4: Rethinking the Revolution

1. People have the power to manipulate how history is remembered-a magnificent amount of power indeed

2. 25% of those enlisted in the Continental army died; the cost to hold our country together was high.

3. Due to the introduction of cameras, the Civil War was not only documented by writing, therefore making its depictions more realistic

4. The Revolutionary war has been 'whitewashed' to depict the war as more glorious and triumphant instead of a brutal struggle for the rights we held dear.

5. Half of captured soldiers in the Revolutionary war died.

As this article suggests, the Civil War was alike the Revolutionary war to an even greater extent due to the leveled death tolls and struggles.

Wilson begins his address by citing that they have a unified government with the legislative and executive branches all having control by democrats, which demonstrates the changing views of the people and their altered perspectives. Wilson continues by stating what he sees as the new views of the people, which in conjunction with a government that is able to enact change, and also combat big business once and for all. LAD/Blog #35: Home was a Horse Stall

Sox, a first generation Japanese American, shares striking stories of her life. One of the most notable is when her family is forced to liquidate all of their possessions at strikingly low prices to make as much money as possible. Additionally, it was equally memorable and deplorable that these Japanese Americans once had to live in horse stalls that were still lingering with traces of the horse due to executive order 9066. The patriot act denies also denies basic american rights under the guise of national security.
