LAD/Blog #23: McKinley's War Message

McKinley begins by stressing that the end of conflict between the US, Cuba, and Spain is essential. McKinley describes the obstacles that the US has faced from this conflict and admits that a free Cuba is the best for America. He also adds that the current humanitarian issues within cuba will be solved through cuban freedom and an end to conflict. he ends by stating that the negative military and economic issues will end if he is authorized.

LAD/Blog #30: Woodrow Wilson's First Inaugural

Wilson begins his address by citing that they have a unified government with the legislative and executive branches all having control by democrats, which demonstrates the changing views of the people and their altered perspectives. Wilson continues by stating what he sees as the new views of the people, which in conjunction with a government that is able to enact change, and also combat big business once and for all. He says that he aims to end the negative externalities associated with the massive economic boom of the 20th century and make a better environment and more income equality. Wilson asks for the support of the people so he may succeed and help them to end the address. Wilson JFK also was elected with a unified government.

LAD #36: FDR’s Declaration of War

This declaration was specifically against the axis powers of japan, italy, and germany on december 8, 1941, as a response to the "day that will live in infamy" (pearl harbor). FDR notes the deliberation and reckless actions of the Japanese and notes that is now the duty of America to go to war. He also emphasizes that this war will be fought so that no more conflicts such as these exist. Wilson also said that he would fight this war to end future wars.
